Harvesting the Grapes

We harvested lots of grapes and spent several sticky days making and bottling grape juice. The process gave me an increased appreciation for grape juice. Growing grapes requires a lot of work! And then after harvesting bushels and bushels of grapes, you only get a few quarts of juice, accompanied by sticky counters, floors, hands and hair. I am still proud of myself, though, for tending and pruning the vines; guiding them along the fence; cleaning off the spider webs and attempting to scare away the birds. And even though the grapes are now gone, the vines are still gorgeous.
Here are some pictures of the grapes from their earlier stages:

  1. I have good memories of making grape juice with my mom and sisters when we were younger. Lots of sticky involved but it smells good and tastes even better.
